Question:
I am interested in buying a winch feeder can you tell me what to look
for.
Answer:
Here are some things to look for in a winch feeder. Keep in mind this
unit is more than likely going to be outdoors 24/7/365 and will be subjected
any and all weather conditions.
1. Brake winch it will cost a little more until your hand slips and the
claw doesn’t engage.
2. Square tubing it doesn’t wobble and pound for pound is stronger.
2.0" is much better than 1.5" especially around hogs and cows.
3. The metal gauge (thickness) should be 14ga.
4. The head (top) is the component that ties everything together. Is
it just a few short pieces of metal welded to a plate or does it even have
a plate and what kind of angle do they use.
5. The head should be configured in three equally spaced pieces 180
degrees divided by 3 not in a "T" fashion.
6. One piece legs are sturdier; anytime you splice legs it weakens them.
7. Do the legs fit inside or outside of the piece that forms the head (top).
8. What size pads are on the bottom of the legs? This may be a factor
depending on your soil conditions.
9. On the barrel the legs should be straight down not angled out off the barrel.
These are items that you can use to compare various winch feeders.
These features I have found will contribute to the overall performance
and life span of a winch feeder. They may or may not cost more.
When it comes to timers try to use one whose motor uses a 1/4" shaft
and a digital timer of course.
Question:
How much is your feeder, and game hoist?
Answer:

barrel with lid and ring.

brake winch, cable, and bail.

Question:
If I furnish the timer, solar Panel and funnel will you put it on.
Answer:
Absolutely, I do charge 25.00 for putting it on but I will be happy to do it for you.
Question:
My feeder is working just fine why should I buy something this expensive?
Answer:
You shouldn't buy mine or anyone else's if you are looking at just the expense. However if you have ever had any of the following issues you may want to consider an upgrade:
Cows or hogs turn your feeder over.
Physical issue which makes it difficult to haul 6-7 bags of feed up some form of ladder
Forced to empty a feeder before it was empty.
Found yourself dreading the fact that you had to fill your feeder
Gotten tired of hauling a ladder around and trying to stabilize it.
Have to fill you feeder(s) by yourself.
